The Technical Challenge tested the bakers on a Scottish staple; shortbread.
And in the Showstopper, the bakers showcased their national pride with a celebratory cranachan creation.
This paid homage to the traditional dessert that typically combines oats, whisky, honey, raspberries and cream.
Some of the familiar faces from Bake Offs past that competed once more in the New Year Special where Lea from series one, James from series three, Norman from series five, Peter from series 11, Kevin from series 13 and Nicky from series 14.
However Alison, who joined the Bake Off team in 2023, couldn’t resist trying some of the Scottish whiskey.
And she soon regretted her decision.
The bubbly presenter couldn’t resist indulging in the festive cheer while Peter was making his festive bake.
He told her to take “just a little sip” and asked, “would you like any water? It’s quite strong.”
After drinking, Alison gasped: “Yeah, I need water.”
The pair laughed as Peter informed her the drink they tried was about 58% alcohol.
Alison then tried to say “I feel better already,” but stumbled over her words.
She then added: “I better put that down,” before placing the glass out of her reach.
Also in the episode, in a nod to the Scottish theme, the judges and presenters donned themed attire.
