SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Schuylerville Central School District has proposed plans for a new capital project for the 2027-2028 school year. The final outline of the project will be revealed at the January 13 Board of Education meeting.
On December 16, District Superintendent Ryan Sherman and Bill McMordie from Saratoga Project Management, Inc., gave a presentation outlining the project. According to the district, the project will improve site infrastructure that is deteriorating or that was left out previously.
"The proposed project is designed to tackle items that were left out of previous initiatives and address new priorities that have emerged," said Superintendent Dr. Ryan Sherman. "Since the district’s last major project concluded in 2019, several areas have been identified as needing attention."
"School buildings are a cornerstone of the community and maintaining them is crucial to their longevity and functionality," Sherman said. "The proposed project underscores the district’s dedication to safeguarding these assets while adapting them to current needs. This approach ensures that Schuylerville’s schools remain state-of-the-art, fostering a productive learning environment and supporting the broader community."
According to the district, as they finalize plans, they are keeping finances in mind. The district said they are creating a timeline to align with the expiration of current bonds to make sure the improvements can be funded with minimal to no additional tax increase for the community.
At the January 13 meeting, the final scope of the project and cost will be presented. At the same meeting, the State Environment Quality Review Act resolution will also be adopted.
Looking forward to the next steps, the board plans to set a vote date and finalize the cost of the project by February 10. As of Friday, the board hopes to have the referendum vote on May 20.
