SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Submissions for the 2025 Crucial Community Conversations Series An Artist Perspective are due January 8. The series welcomes art of all forms to make attention-grabbing statements that inspire community conversations.
The series, led by the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission (SCHRC), will use art forms to inspire conversations around climate change, reproductive rights, choice and immigration at different events around Schenectady County. The submission theme this year is Human Rights and Social Justice, the SCHRC said.
"We invite Schenectady County artists to share their creativity and perspectives through art that
highlights the critical issues affecting our community," said Arthur Butler, executive director of the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission. "This is a chance to join a community of voices that are making a statement and contributing to the conversation about the importance of these issues in our world today."
The first event is a Black History Month Showcase, the SCHRC said. Artwork can be submitted through an online submission form on Schenectady County's website. For more information, contact Odellia Purdie, the series curator, at odellia.purdie@schenectadycountyny.gov or by calling (518) 386-3627.
