KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A pedestrian died after being struck by an SUV on December 27. Gary White, a 77-year-old Kingston resident succumbed to his injuries eight hours after the crash, police said Thursday.
Around 5:30 p.m., police responded to a crash at Broadway and Orchard Street intersection. A preliminary investigation determined White was not using the pedestrian crosswalk when crossing the street from the Dairy Mart Parking Lot to the Rondout Savings Bank.
As he was crossing, he was struck by a 2012 GMC Terrain being driven by a 20-year-old female, police said. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Police also said she was alone during the crash.
