Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will be both aiming for a series win when the two sides face off in the second Test of the two-match series at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from Thursday. The first Test, which was a Boxing Day Test, ended in a high-scoring draw earlier this week with the home side notching up 586 in the first innings and Afghanistan replying with a massive 699 in the rain-hit game.
For Zimbabwe, Sean Williams top-scored with 154 while captain Craig Ervine and all-rounder Brian Bennett notched up centuries in their first innings. Ben Curran, who is younger brother of England all-rounders Sam Curran and Tom Curran, notched up a fifty in his debut innings as well.
Afghanistan replied with a massive total with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scoring 246 and Rahmat Shah scoring 234. The duo put on record 364 runs for the third wicket. Wicketkeeper Afsar Zazai also notched up 113.
The second Test from Thursday will only be the fourth Test between the two sides ever. In the previous three Tests, Afghanistan has won one, Zimbabwe one while the last game ended in a draw.
