Happy New Year! Wishing you all the very best in the year ahead – good health, abundant happiness, and prosperity. Here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Harrison's loan spell could end abruptly if Toffee's land Turkish aceJack Harrison's loan spell at Everton could come to an abrupt end if as expected, they bring new recruits in later this month. Under new ownership, the Toffee's are ready to splash the cash, and have already identified Turkish International Yunus Akgun as a replacement. The 24yo currently applies his trade with Galatasaray where he has already netted ten times this season and picked up four man-of-the-match awards. Harrison has not found the back of the net in ten months, and is yet to make a significant contribution to Sean Dyche's team in just under a thousand minutes of game time this season.
Given that the Toffee's don't even pay Leeds a loan fee, the Merseyside outfit may just keep Harrison on the bench, but what happens if Everton deem him surplus to requirements? Reintegrating him to life at Elland Road won't be easy. The Elland Road faithful may have forgiven Gnonto, Aaronson and Wober, but surely the former Manchester Utd rookie has crossed the line to no return!
Farke planning Elvedi reunionLeeds United are reportedly eyeing a reunion for Daniel Farke with his former Borussia Monchengladbach player, Nico Elvedi. Elland Road officials have identified the need for defensive reinforcements, and the 56 capped Swiss ace fits the bill. Elvedi is familiar with Farke's tactical approach having worked under him, and could offer experience and stability to the Leeds backline.
The 28-year-old centre-back is available for £10m, which is well within Leeds grasps. It does however raise question marks that Wober or Struijk may be exiting the club to make way for Elvedi.
