The Kings are excited to announce the signing of 16 year old defenseman Cruz Scanzano.
The Montreal product was the 26th overall pick (2nd round) in 2024 QMJHL Entry draft by the Saint John Sea Dogs. He played in 13 games this season for the Sea Dogs collecting 2 assists. “Cruz is a fearless and responsible with and without the puck.” says Head Coach and G.M. Stephan Seeger Jr. “After studying film it is clear he has high end competence and desire to win.”
Scanzano may only be 16 years old, but he will be a big presence on the blueline as he stands at 6’3″ and weighs 232 pounds. “He will add size and grit to our defence and he doesn’t shy away from offence when he has the chance.” adds Seeger Jr. “I expect an immediate and positive impact from Cruz and we are excited to work with, and develop him this season.”
Scanzano is expected to be in the lineup this weekend when the team kicks off 2025 with a doubleheader at the Hap this Friday (7pm) and Saturday (5pm) versus the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
In other roster news, the team has traded defenseman Jason Davenport to the Blackfalds Bulldogs in exchange for future considerations.
