Tottenham’s chances of holding on to one of their key players have just been boosted after an update emerged on Real Madrid’s transfer plans for next summer.
Pedro Porro’s stock continues to rise at Tottenham, and it has been widely reported by various outlets over the last few months that he is on Real Madrid’s radar.
The La Liga giants are thought to be eyeing the Spurs man as a potential heir to the ageing Dani Carvajal.
However, it turns out that Pedro Porro is not at the top of Real Madrid’s wishlist at the moment, with some publications continuing to report that Trent Alexander-Arnold is their number one target.
The Daily Mail have now reported that Los Blancos are growing ‘increasingly convinced’ that they can sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer at the end of the season, with no agreement yet on a new deal between the right-back and Liverpool.
The report says that the La Liga giants have already started planning for life with the England international and are becoming increasingly optimistic about getting their top target.
However, the update makes it clear that the defender has not reached an agreement with Carlo Ancelotti’s side yet and the Reds will continue to try to tie him down to a new contract.
This update comes as a huge boost to Spurs as it now seems less likely that Madrid will launch an assault to sign Porro in the summer.
If Liverpool do manage to tie down Alexander-Arnold to a new deal over the coming months, one would assume that Porro will be the man that Madrid turn their attention towards.
However, the Spanish club would be aware that negotiating with Daniel Levy would be extremely challenging and that they would have to pay over the odds to get their hands on the Spain international.
