ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Stacks Espresso Bar, 260 Lark Street, will soon be relocating to the Café Hollywood property, 275 Lark Street. The business announced the relocation as a way to expand offerings and productivity in the new year.
Stacks opened on Lark Street in 2014 and quickly became a go-to spot for coffee, but the space limited their opportunities for more. According to Stacks, the move will create a larger space for coffee lovers, creatives and collaborators.
"Café Hollywood has been a cornerstone of Lark Street for 30 years," said the Stacks team. "With its spacious patio, kitchen, and ample room for lounging, working, or gathering with friends and family, this space felt like the perfect next chapter for us. When Collin Rost [former owner of Café Hollywood] was ready to sell, the timing couldn’t have been better. We knew this was our chance to grow and deliver everything we’ve been dreaming of for the community."
According to the business, they hope to reimagine the space to keep the vibrant Lark Street alive. Stacks will expand offerings including food, events, evening cocktails and will have entertainment.
In November, Café Hollywood closed its doors after a person was shot inside the bar, resulting in city officials to step in. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said the business would close indefinitely and the Lark Street Business Improvement District supported its closure.
After the acquisition, Sheehan said the city welcomes this new chapter for Stacks.
"We are excited that a neighborhood staple like Stacks has come forward to purchase 275 Lark Street in an effort to reimagine this historic neighborhood space," Sheehan said. "Our city needs more committed partners like the team at Stacks that not only choose to stay in our Capital City but double- and triple-down their investment and continue to make our city more vibrant and welcoming."
The 260 Lark Street location will close on February 1 to open the new location. Stacks Espresso Bar also has locations in Troy and on Broadway and Albany Shaker Roads in Albany.
