But there’s nothing worse than making the journey to a shopping centre only to realise after you’ve arrived that it’s actually closed for the day.
For many, the idea of visiting a shopping centre on such a busy day is their worst nightmare – but needs must if there’s Christmas cash to be spent and deals to snatch!
Metro has compiled the New Years Day opening hours of the biggest UK shopping centres.
Westfield shopping centre in White City, West London, sees 39 million visitors on average every single year.
There’s no doubt that over the next couple of days Londoners will be flocking to the popular shopping centre to pick up some deals.
Those looking to visit the 291-store shopping mecca today can get there at 12pm.
Shoppers will have eight hours to pick up whatever they need, with Westfield Shepherd’s Bush closing its doors at 9pm.

Bluewater, situated near Dartford in Kent, sits just outside the M25 motorway ring.
The 240-acre store will open up at 10am before shutting at 7pm.
Newcastle’s Metrocentre is another popular shopping centre set to be flooded by shoppers hungry for a deal.
Located on the former site of Dunston Power Station near the River Tyne, the centre will be closed all day on Wednesday.
The Trafford Centre opened in 1998 and is the country’s third largest retail space.
Greater Manchester’s shopping centre will open up at 12pm and shut at 6pm.
London’s other Westfield shopping centre, in Stratford, East London, has the same opening hours as its West London counterpart.
10am-9pm.
The Bull Ring has been an important feature of the Midlands since the Middle Ages, when its first market was holid.
On New Year’s Day, those from Birmingham will have seven hours to complete their shopping with the store opening at 10am and closing at 5pm.
Essex’s large out-of-town shopping centre, similarly to Bluewater, sits outside of the M25.
On New Year’s Day, the store will be open from 10am to 7pm.
Edinburgh’s newest shopping centre will be open between 9am and 8pm on New Year’s Day.
Manchester’s other shopping centre, Manchester Arndale, will too welcome thousands of Christmas shoppers tomorrow.
It will be open between 9am and 7pm.
Dudley’s Merry Hill, another Midlands shopping centre, will be open between 11am and 5pm on New Years Day.
A 1.65 million square-foot shopping complex, Liverpool One is situated in the heart of Merseyside.
The centre will be open between 11am and 6pm.
The Centre:MK will be open from 9am until 8pm.
Another Greater London shopping centre, atria Watford will welcome shoppers between 10am and 6pm.
Placed three miles north-east of the centre of Sheffield, Meadowhall is situated between between Sheffield and Rotherham.
It will be opening between 11am and 5pm.
Wales’s biggest shopping centre will welcome stressed Welsh shoppers between 9:30am and 6pm.
