As 2024 winds down, some retailers are heading into the new year with ambitious store expansion plans.
From discount chains to sporting goods retailers, here are some of the store openings slated for 2025.
Boot Barn is making progress in its goal to open 900 stores across the U.S. by 2030. In 2025, the chain plans to add 60 new doors to its fleet to deliver on its goal of hitting 15 percent of new store growth annually.
After opening 16 new stores across 10 states in 2024, the sporting goods retailer said it plans to open between 20 and 25 stores in fiscal year 2025 in line with a longterm goal for 800 stores.
Birkestock said it plan to increase its door count by 50 percent in 2025. In 2024, Birkenstock opened 20 new stores, bringing its total store fleet to 67.
REI said in October it plans to open four new stores in 2025, located in New York, California and Washington.
After opening a New York City pop-up Salomon store in 2024, the brand plans to expand to five physical stores in 2025, beginning with a permanent space in New York City.
After opening 11 stores this year, the Austin-based Western brand plans to maintain a steady approach to new openings in the future. Kim Heidt, chief retail officer of Tecovas, told FN that the brand plans to open about 10 stores a year.
Kizik is doubling down on a retail expansion plan that includes new stores and further extension into wholesale. Kizik chief executive officer Monte Deere told FN in May that the brand planned to have a total of six stores by the end of 2024 and a total of 15 stores by the end of 2025. “In 2025, we have several more in the pipeline,” the CEO said. “We’re looking hard at Washington, D.C., Nashville, Seattle and Portland for new openings next year.”
Nordstrom has at least four new Rack stores slated to open in 2025, according to its website.
