MAGA attorney Mike Davis demanded more than a resignation from D.C.'s top prosecutor Matthew Graves on Monday, calling for "severe" consequences for Graves' role in imprisoning Jan. 6 rioters.
Graves, who has served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia for the past three years, announced that he would leave his post as of Jan. 16, 2025. Graves was responsible for charging around 1,600 people in connection with the Capitol riots of 2021, some 1,100 of whom have already been sentenced.
Although it's commonplace for Department of Justice officials to step down before a new administration takes the helm, Davis took a shot at Graves before he headed out the door.
"The trash is taking itself out before January 20th. But Matthew Graves must face severe legal, political, and financial consequences for what he did to January 6th defendants. Unforgivable. He should feel very lucky I’m not going back into government. I would show no mercy," he said.

Davis' post was one in a series where he warned Jan. 6 prosecutors to "lawyer up." He mentioned former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who chaired the Jan. 6 Committee, by name, writing, "Your daddy can’t save you this time," referring to former Vice President and vehement Trump critic Dick Cheney (R).
GOP Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) also piled on the call for Trump "justice" to prevail against the DOJ.
President-elect Donald Trump has repeatedly called for Liz Cheney to be "jailed" for her role in the Jan. 6 investigations and has vowed to pardon those charged in and imprisoned for the insurrection "on day one" of his administration.
In an official statement announcing his resignation, the U.S. Attorney's Office addressed the Jan. 6 prosecutions, writing, "Because politically motivated violence and destruction rip at the fabric of our society, Mr. Graves made federally prosecuting such crimes a priority."
The statement quotes Graves as saying, "Serving as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia has been the honor of a lifetime. I am deeply thankful to Congresswoman Holmes Norton for recommending me; to President Biden for nominating me; and to Attorney General Garland for placing his trust in me.”
Trump has long claimed that the Department of Justice was "weaponized" against him under President Joe Biden.
