Cycling clubs are the cornerstone of Manitoba’s cycling community, offering a space for riders to connect, learn, and grow—whether it’s exploring new trails, competing in races, or enjoying the camaraderie of group rides. These clubs foster a sense of belonging, support skill development, and play a vital role in strengthening the sport at all levels. The Manitoba Cycling Association is proud to spotlight the incredible work our clubs do to create vibrant, inclusive cycling communities across the province.
Green Route Cycling Club, founded in 2020, is a dynamic cycling community in Winnipeg that caters to riders of all ages. Our members seek more than just the typical café ride; they’re after fast-paced endurance and tempo rides that push their limits. Many of our members are training to increase their FTP, perform better in local races and Gran Fondos, or achieve personal bests on Strava segments.
With a focus on camaraderie and skill development, the club offers a variety of activities, including weekly rides, races, clinics, virtual events, and off-bike socials—all with an emphasis on safety, fun, and personal growth.
Green Route is known for its premium cycling kits, custom designs, and strong local partnerships. Members enjoy exclusive perks, including access to coffee, nutrition, and top-tier cycling gear.
New riders are welcomed with a thorough introduction to the club’s culture and riding guidelines, ensuring they feel informed and confident from the start. First-time riders are matched with experienced cyclists for one-on-one coaching, where they’ll develop essential skills like paceline techniques and ride safety. This supportive atmosphere extends to all group rides, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Green Route is dedicated to creating community-driven experiences that inspire participation and build lasting relationships. One of the standout moments was the first-ever virtual race hosted at Kilter in February 2023. Cyclists competed on smart trainers, taking on a challenging course with KOMs and sprint segments. It was an inspiring event that brought the community together in the winter months, showcasing the passion and camaraderie of local cyclists.
Another significant event for Green Route was their involvement in the inaugural 2024 Terry Fox – Manitoba Ride of Hope. This incredible initiative raised $7,570 from 111 donors, with 36 riders completing the 126km route. The presence of Darrell Fox added an extra layer of meaning to the event, making it a truly memorable experience for all involved.
Green Route’s commitment to community engagement is also reflected in its collaboration with Red River Cycling Club. Through a reciprocal ride program, the two clubs are providing more inclusive opportunities for riders of all skill levels, strengthening connections between their members while supporting cyclists’ growth.
