ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Thirteen Albany residents were displaced after a kitchen fire Sunday night. The fire started a 375 Delaware Avenue, across from the Delaware Avenue fire station.
According to the Albany firefighter's labor union, crews responded to a kitchen fire across from the station. Albany Fire Department Chief Joseph Gregory said they were dispatched at 6:01 p.m. and the fire was out at 6:17 p.m.
The fire was a small kitchen fire on the second floor, causing the residents to be displaced, Chief Gregory said. Water damage to the first-floor residence, displaced the family inside, he added.
As a result of the fire, The American Red Cross provided immediate aid to the residents of two households. According to the Red Cross, one household had four adults and three children, and another household affected had five adults and one child.
Red Cross volunteers provided comfort kits containing personal care items, blankets and stuffed animals for the children. They also provided financial assistance for food, clothes and a place to stay for the two families.
Gregory said there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
