A Spurs hashtag has been trending on social media since the 1-1 draw to Wolves, and it suggests that the end could be approaching for Ange Postecoglou.
Even though the results for Tottenham have been abysmal for the last 12 months, Postecoglou has retained the support of a lot of the Spurs fan base.
The Australian has earned plenty of sympathy due to the injury crisis he has been dealing with this season, while he also won extra brownie points for the attacking football that he has implemented and his tendency to accept responsibility for bad results.
However, with Tottenham languishing in the bottom half of the table midway into the campaign, it appears that the tide is starting to turn against Postecoglou.
The Herald and a number of other outlets are now reporting that the ‘#AngeOut’ is now one of the top trends across the UK.
That is perhaps a sign that a large proportion of the Tottenham fan base have now run out of patience with the Australian and have lost faith in the idea that he will be able to turn things around.
That is an extremely worrying sign for the 59-year-old as when fans turn on the manager, the atmosphere usually turns toxic, leaving the club with very little choice but to make a managerial change.
Postecoglou is not going to stop trying and he is evidently doing his best to rally the players and build some sort of momentum, but his body language looks like that of a man who is resigned to his fate.
The squad is short of confidence at the moment and the players look like they have lost belief in the system, which is natural when results are as bad as they have been.
When asked about his own future, Postecoglou told Football.London after the 2-2 draw against Wolves: “I’ll just keep going, mate. We’ve got work to do and try to get some help for these players and our role is to try and give them everything we can, the support we can to perform at their best.
