ABB Electrification has opened a new Smart Buildings and Smart Power Technology Hub in Holborn, London, to deliver technical training to its customers.
The hub aims to showcase the company’s power distribution and building automation solutions for data centres and commercial and residential buildings. The hub was officially unveiled on 12 December through an interactive event where guests could discover more about ABB’s solutions through hands-on demonstrations.
“It was nice to come to the ABB office and actually see the equipment rather than in a catalogue or website,” said Gabriel Dave Santos, senior electrical engineer at Ridge and Partners. “Seeing a product in person gives you a much better appreciation of how it works, and its quality too.”
His words were echoed by Dr Bola Abigosun OBE, founder and chief excitement officer at Digital Twin Skills Academy, who added: “I came with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised. At the Digital Twin Skills Academy, we’re big fans of digital automation, and clearly ABB are a leader in that space. Very impressive.”
Now that the technical hub’s equipment is fully operational, ABB can demonstrate the mechanisms behind load shedding and change-over events in real-time, allowing visitors and trainees to better understand the company’s advanced energy management capabilities.
“It’s an exciting development,” said David Lowen, commercial director at ABB. “Our new technology hub, located in Holborn Tower at the heart of London, enhances how we engage with customers and partners. It enables closer collaboration to develop tailored solutions, while showcasing the full potential of ABB’s Smart Building and Smart Power technologies in a dynamic, live setting. We’ll be hosting many more events like this and we welcome anyone interested in a visit.”
