AUSTIN (KXAN)-- Texas is sending more than 300 responders to assist with recovery following a severe weather event in southeast Texas, according to a Saturday statement from acting Governor Dan Patrick.
The severe weather brought flash flooding, large hail, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes to the south east area of Texas, according to Patrick. At least one person has died.
"Please join Jan and me in prayer for the impacted families and their communities...Texas state agencies are working hard to help their fellow Texans and have begun to assess the damage," Patrick said.
There are also some localized power outages, according to the release. Patrick said Texas officials are working to restore power for impacted residents.
