NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – New Year's Eve came early in Times Square!
Organizers of the Times Square holiday tradition dropped a round of confetti Sunday at Broadway Plaza between 45th and 46th Streets to test the confetti's “worthiness” for the real celebration.
At 11 a.m., multicolored confetti dropped around the New Year’s Eve stage in preparation for the main event, when 3,000 pounds of confetti will drop at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
Those pieces of confetti will have written on them wishes for the new year, submitted ahead of time by people online and in-person at the Times Square Wishing Wall, which will be available for more wishes on Sunday.
This is part of a week-long celebration of the new year. Yesterday, New Yorkers celebrated Good Riddance Day, an unofficial holiday for New Yorkers to say goodbye to the parts of their life that no longer serve them.
