Taylor Swift has successfully wrapped up the Eras Tour and is now spending time with Travis Kelce in his Leawood, Kansas home. While that sounds like a quaint start to a Hallmark film, the two A-list stars can’t just relax at his residence without thinking about security — it reportedly inspired the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s thoughtful Christmas gift to her.
On Oct. 7, Kelce’s $6 million estate was broken into while his team played against the New Orleans Saints for Monday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium. Patrick Mahomes’ residence was also burglarized hours before, according to TMZ Sports, and both burglaries were reported to be a part of a “larger crime spree.” Kelce had $20,000 in cash stolen along with $100,000 worth of jewelry, and his jersey from his first Super Bowl in 2020, per the U.S. Sun.
While neither Kelce nor Swift were home, the break-in really spooked them. “The burglary was a huge wake-up call for them, and they will not spare any expense when it comes to their safety,” a source told the Daily Mail. That’s why the NFL star decided to do a home security upgrade as a part of his Christmas gift to his girlfriend — he wanted her to feel safe and secure.
The insider described it as an “invincible” security system so “they will always have a good night’s sleep.” We don’t blame Kelce for stepping up his safety game with “a state-of-the-art security system,” Swift is precious to him. “This was a calculated break-in and Taylor and Travis are not taking any chances,” they added. “The intruders knew exactly when the house would be empty and could easily see that she was at the game he was playing in. They knew how long they had to carry out the robbery based on when the game ended.”
Kelce and Mahomes aren’t the only NFL players to have their residences broken into this year. The FBI is investigating the crime wave that might be tied to an international ring. “It’s legit,” an insider told the NFL in November. “It’s a transnational crime ring, and over the last three weeks, they’ve focused on NBA and NFL players, and it’s all over the country.”
Kelce isn’t taking any chances, especially when he is in love with one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Swift deserves her peace and privacy.
