A DAD appeared in court accused of murdering two women with a kitchen knife and leaving two other victims with serious injuries on Christmas Day.
Jazwell Brown, 49, stood before magistrates today wearing a grey tracksuit, with a stubble beard and his arms clasped behind his back.
It was heard that he allegedly attacked Joanne Pearson, 38, and Teohna Grant, 24, at a flat in Milton Keynes, Bucks.
Local resident Bradley Latter, 29, was also said to have been knifed along with a teenage boy who cannot be named for legal reasons.
During the incident at 6.30pm on Wednesday a dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier, was injured and rushed to a vet and later survived, it was heard.
Brown, of Milton Keynes, was also found in possession of a kitchen knife, High Wycombe Magistrates Court heard.
He is charged with two counts of murder, two of attempted murder, possession of a bladed article and causing unnecessary harm by wounding of a protected animal.
Dishevelled Brown entered no plea this morning, speaking only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the short hearing.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Luton Crown Court on December 31.
Prosecutor Zara Khan said: “This case relates to the murder of Joanne Pearson plus Teohna Grant allegedly committed by Jazwell Brown.”
Addressing Brown, magistrate Bernard Crossey said: “You are going to be reminded in custody until you will appear at crown court.
“We believe that this is because of the nature and seriousness of the offences.”
Following the hearing Mr Crossey requested those still present to stand for a moment silence for the alleged victims.
A neighbour previously said: “Me and my sister-in-law went out to see what was going on and walked down the road.
“A young boy came running past frantically shouting, ‘You need to help me, he’s going to kill me.’
“By the time we turned back around the dad came round the corner and was walking towards us very quickly so the lad ran into our house.”
The neighbour continued: “I went into survival mode and got my sister-in-law into the house and locked the door to protect our family.
“He had three stab wounds – to his head, chest and finger.
“Me, my wife, my sister and brother-in-law, and their children were all in the house fearing the worst if he managed to kick the door down.
“By this time the neighbours had already called the police and I think he was spooked.
“The youngster stayed in the house until police and paramedics turned up. He looked absolutely petrified, going into shock, shaking.
“Paramedics later said that we had saved his life.”
Locals have left floral tributes and teddy bears at the scene since the horror on Christmas Day.
A dog found “covered in blood” was taken to a vet but miraculously survived the incident, according to Thames Valley Police.
Thames Valley Police said in a statement: “Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, a man has been charged in connection with a double murder investigation in Milton Keynes.
“Despite formal identification not yet taking place, we can confirm that the women who sadly died in this incident are Joanne Pearson, aged 38 and Teohna Grant, aged 24, both of Milton Keynes.
“We continue to support the families at this difficult time, and our thoughts are with them.
“The families would ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.”
Today, Teohna’s tearful mum was too overcome with grief to speak at her home in a sleepy corner of Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
Petra Grant was left inconsolable following news of the Christmas Day attack, which also left a man and teen lad seriously injured.
Meanwhile tragic rail worker Teohna’s sister, Parris Grant, 26, was also in mourning following the bloodbath.
A photo shared online shows Teohna, who moved to Bletchley in Milton Keynes three years ago, celebrating her 18th birthday.
One neighbour said: “They have had a party of some sort. We saw them all arriving in the morning with presents.
“At around 6pm a lady has come onto the balcony screaming, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.’
“Moments later the teenager has come out the front door screaming and shouting – it was like a horror movie.
“He’s been stabbed in the chest and the head – he’s tried to block the knife and all his fingers are hanging off.
“Then the dog ran out – it was a little white dog, but you couldn’t tell because it was covered in blood.
“It kept running off and coming back – Joanne and that dog were inseparable.”
The stricken youngster sought refuge in a nearby house – forcing the terrified family inside to lock their doors.
