He was constantly guilty of giving away possession and could drop to the bench against Newcastle United at home.
The midfielder was spotted limping after the game, and there are doubts whether he will be deemed fit for Monday.
United have suffered four defeats in the last five league games, and they must return to winning ways.
The club are already nine points behind fifth place, which could be enough to secure a Champions League spot next term.
