A fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee is leaving the Democratic Party, comparing it to a "cult" on her way out.
Lindy Li, a political commentator, claimed she was shut out after being critical of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
She claimed it's a toxic internal culture, comparing it to leaving a "cult," when speaking to Fox News about the matter. Meanwhile, she said Republicans are more "humane" to her.

Li said that when she came out against Biden and Harris, she was blasted online by progressives and claimed that she lost 40,000 followers on her social media.
"This past week has been harrowing for me," Li told former CNN anchor Piers Morgan last week. "On Saturday, I went on Fox & Friends and said, 'Democrats have a stench of loser hanging over them.' As soon as I said that, there were boycott campaigns against me—unblock, unfollow campaigns."
"I lost tens of thousands of followers because I dared to tell the truth," Li said. "In a cult, you can't tell the truth or ask questions, but I'm done with that."
Li also said she received swift criticism after claiming that Pete Hegseth was "a pretty good guy," after an allegation of sexual assault against him surfaced.
"Oh boy. Lindy Li is on Fox burying the Democrats again. It's very clear where this is going," journalist Aaron Rupar said on Bluesky last week before Li announced.
Others pointed out she's done the rounds on conservative media since Donald Trump won the election.
Lee was a failed Democratic congressional candidate in a 2016 Pennsylvania primary. At the time, she touted her support of issues like college affordability, climate change, women’s rights, and campaign finance reform.
Her Instagram page features photos of her with top elected Democrats, including numerous photos of her with Biden.
A post in Atlanta was captioned: "I was with President Biden a few minutes after the debate tonight. Here we are at his watch party. He was amazing and kind as he always is, remembering tiny details about me and my family. I don’t care what the pundits say about this great man — I will always be Team Biden."
Li previously stepped down from the Pennsylvania Young Democrats in 2020, accusing supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) of bullying her.
