A sequel for The Black Phone is on the way!
The first movie, produced by Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse outlet, hit theaters in 2022 and picked up $161.4 million at the global box office.
In the film, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, Finney Shaw, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.
By October 2023, it was announced the horror film would get a sequel and it was set to be released in June 2025. It has, however, been pushed back to October 2025.
Director/co-writer Scott Derrickson is back on to pen the sequel alongside C. Robert Cargill. The two writers will also produce, alongside Jason Blum.
