GAVIN and Stacey addressed the show’s infamous fishing trip for one final time as fans were left on the edge of their seats desperate to find out what really happened between Bryn and Jason.
The events of what happened have long remained a mystery on the BBC sitcom but as it drew to a close once and for all – it had to be addressed for the final time.
Tensions were high as Gwen opted to bring up the infamous fishing trip once again[/caption] It turned out that someone knew the secret all along[/caption]Amid a shock revelation that Gwen West was having a secret romance with Dave Coaches – it turned out that he actually knew a lot more about her family than he had been letting on.
Bryn was left furious to discover that Gwen and Dave had dated in secret for six months which led him to hit out in a furious rant about keeping things from the family.
The moment in question caused Gwen to furiously lash out as she decided to remind him of his very own secrets.
Bryn muttered: “Secrets and lies, Gwen. Secrets and lies.”
To which she furiously responded by saying: “Secrets? You want to talk about secrets?
“Thirty years ago, you two went on a fishing trip that almost tore this family apart.
“And you still haven’t told a single soul what happened.”
As Jason, Stacey and Nessa stood and looked on, it forced Jason to make the most shocking revelation about the fishing trip to date.
Jason said: “That’s not strictly true. He did tell someone.
“And that someone is standing in this room.
“Isn’t he, Dave?”
Gwen then said in bemusement: “You know what happened on the fishing trip?”
Amid a tense atmosphere, Bryn said: “Yes, go on, Dave.
“If this is true love, as you purport it to be, then there’ll be no secrets between you.
“Look her in the eye and tell her.”
It seemed as though the truth was finally to be confessed once and for all as Dave began to recount the story.
He said: “From what I was told, it was cold.
“The tent was up and the sun was down. The fire was blazing. And the soup was bubbling in the billy can.
“And then…”
The clan were then saved by the bell as the smoke alarm began to ring out as Gwen burnt her infamous omelette’s.
Speaking about the infamous fishing trip to The Sun and other press, Jason actor Robert Wilfort confessed that he was glad that the special did not give away what had happened.
The actor said: “I’d like to say now and forever, the joke has always been you don’t find out what happens on the fishing trip.
“I’m sorry everybody, but that has always been the joke and it always will be because it’s funny.
“It’s funnier that way.
“And I was so pleased that we didn’t reveal it because we’ve never known what it is.”
