Rōki Sasaki has now met with the Chicago Cubs, according to the Marquee Sports Network’s Bruce Levine. While details are scarce, Levine speculated that “about 12-15 teams” figure to make some sort of a run for the Japanese phenom. The teams known to have met with Sasaki so far include the Mets, Yankees, Cubs, Rangers, and possibly the Giants.

Jay Horwitz’s latest podcast episode features a conversation with former Mets John Olerud, Turk Wendell, and Mookie Wilson as they reflected on their experiences with Rickey Henderson. Infielder Ehire Adrianza announced his official retirement on Instagram, marking the end of his journey in professional baseball. The Boston Red Sox have traded switch-hitting infielder Mickey Gasper to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for left-handed reliever Jovani Moran, as first reported by Hunter Noll. Moran, 27, missed the entire 2024 season recovering from Tommy John surgery.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman revealed that the Yankees are interested in a reunion with southpaw Tim Hill. A rare submarine pitcher, Hill pitched to a 3.36 ERA last season across time with the White Sox and Yankees.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News wrote that the Texas Rangers are interested in signing righty reliever Chris Martin. Now 39, Martin has already voiced his desire for 2025 to be his final season in the majors. However, that may not be due to a lack of ability. In 44 1/3 innings last year, the veteran struck out 50 while putting up a solid 3.45 ERA.
