UK CELEBS are ditching five-star hotels for good old-fashioned caravan holidays.
From decked-out motorhomes to seaside resorts, everyone from footballers, TV stars and celebrity chefs are trading glamour for the open road.
Here’s how some of your favourite stars are enjoying life on wheels.
Manchester United’s Harry Maguire swapped the pitch for Presthaven Sands earlier this year.
The footballer enjoyed a family getaway at the popular Haven resort in North Wales, staying in one of the portable homes.
But the holiday park is about to get even better.
New plans include an aerial adventure zone, climbing walls, and bungee trampolines.
A massive inflatable arena and dog-friendly “Bark Yard zone” are also in the works.
Haven says the multi-million investment will improve facilities and boost the visitor experience.
The upgrades are expected to be a game-changer for the popular park.
The Manchester footballer wasn’t the only star swapping glamour for a cosy Haven caravan break this year.
TV favourite Stacey Solomon shared snaps from her family holiday at the Kent Coast Haven holiday park in Rochester in Spring.
Stacey and her family stayed in one of the park’s Gold tier, three-bed caravans, and it’s fair to say the kids had a blast.
“There’s just something so magical for kids about a holiday park,” she said in a post shared on Instagram in April.
The park, just an hour from London, boasts two swimming pools, an adventure playground, and stunning sea views.
It was her husband Joe Swash who recommended the destination after working with the holiday park last year.
“Joe said this one was the best, and he wasn’t wrong! Clean, lovely staff, and everything was so well organised,” she said.
Despite leaving with “no clean clothes” and arcade tickets for sweets and a sling shot, Stacey called it a perfect break.
She said, “It’s special – stepping into a different world, forgetting time, and just enjoying family.”
Joe Swash and Stacey Soloman have their own motorhome[/caption]Countdown star Carol Vorderman is known for living the high life in her luxury camper van.
In 2022, the former countdown presenter unveiled her new motorhome on Instagram, which she dubbed “Vordersvan”. It even has its own Instagram account.
The MAN TGE van has it all with a double bed, plants and a log burner while the kitchen has a gas stove and wooden counters.
There’s also a projector, hammock, skylight and ‘roof terrace’ with seats.
She wrote online: “We are gonna [sic] have lots of adventures if you wanna come with me on here.”
Since the unveiling, she’s been spotted travelling in the camper van across the UK, making the most of her home on wheels.
Carol Vorderman has decked out a van to live in[/caption]TV favourite Lorraine Kelly is a long-time caravan enthusiast.
Over 10 years ago, the TV presenter was voted the ideal celebrity holiday companion by caravan users, and for a very good reason.
She said: “The great thing about going round in a caravan is that you see so much more.”
For Lorraine, it’s all about hitting the open road and exploring at her own pace.
“It’s the freedom of the open road which really attracts me,” she said.
Lorraine Kelly has spoken of her love of caravan holidays[/caption]Helen Baxendale – who found fame as Emily in the hit TV show Friends and Cold Feet – has also spoken about her love of caravan holidays
She told the Telegraph: “I stay in so many hotels when I’m working that I never stay in them on holiday: they make me feel locked in.
“I much prefer camping or a caravan – a camper van and the open road.
“I just love the feeling of ‘We’re off!’ I had a lot of caravanning holidays when I was young with my parents and have very happy memories, and this is me trying to replicate that.”
