New Timmy sidequest just dropped. On December 23, Timothée Chalamet went live on Instagram for about 14 minutes, which was more than enough time for him to thoroughly confuse the internet. The livestream began with the camera far away from Chalamet as he observed a giant screen of Bob Dylan performing “Blind Willie McTell.” Eventually we got close enough to see that this was really him and not just a lookalike contest winner. The background music changed to “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas, lights flashed, and motivational messages started appearing on the screen. Chalamet then went on to hug a bunch of people (unclear if one of those silhouettes was Kylie Jenner), blast confetti, stick his head in a sink to get his hair wet, and do hip thrusts and some Raygun-esque floorwork while shirtless. The reason for all of this is … a complete unknown. Chalamet posted the recording with a very simple, third-person caption: “timmy’s livestream that aired at 3:16pm pacific standard time on 12/23/2024!”
In the comments section, Club Chalamet thanked the actor for sharing this piece of “immersive art.” Was the livestream supposed to help him process that he can let go of the role of Dylan along with the release of the biopic A Complete Unknown? Is the fact that his name is misspelled as “timmothee” on the screen at one point intended to be symbolic commentary on how not even all of his fans really know him? Is the ending of the livestream where he’s followed outside a metaphor for something? Or maybe everyone’s overanalyzing it, and this is just what the 28-year-old likes to do every time he listens to the Black Eyed Peas. Judge for yourself below.
