FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (PIX11) – A dog was rescued after it fell into a frozen lake in New Jersey on Sunday, according to the Franklin Lakes Fire Department.
It happened at Shadow Lake in Franklin Lakes. The pup had fallen through the ice before it swam to an island about 75 feet from the shore, fire officials said.
Rescue crews, wearing ice rescue gear, used a canoe to cross the lake and get to the dog.
They then coaxed the dog with a few treats so that it would board the canoe, according to fire officials. The dog was safely brought back to the shore.
