A “HEARTBROKEN” mum pays tribute to her son who was hit and killed by a “drug driver” just days before Christmas.
Ryan Marshall, 15, was “mowed down” by a Ford Fiesta and passed away from his injuries on December 22.
The horror crash happened in Andover, Hampshire[/caption]Paying tribute to him today, Ryan’s heartbroken mum said: “Ryan was a lovely, caring boy with a cheeky smile and wicked, cheeky sense of humour.
“He was loved so much by me, the family and everyone who knew him. We are all very heart-broken that he was taken from us.”
Specialist officers are supporting Ryan’s family as detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to investigate the incident.
In a statement released on December 24 South Yorkshire Police said: “As part of our enquiries the driver of the vehicle involved, a 29-year-old woman from Andover, has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs.
“She has been released from police custody but remains under investigation pending further enquiries.”
South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident with information, dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
The Force previously announced: “An investigation is underway following reports of a road traffic collision in Sheffield.
“Yesterday just before 1pm, officers were in the Hyde Park Walk area on a pre-planned operation.
“While in the area, a black Ford Fiesta believed to have been stolen has reacted to the police presence and attempted to flee the scene.”
Following a short pursuit, the black Fiesta has collided with a wall.
East Bank Road was closed for a period of time while officers conducted their work, but has since reopened.
The Force added: “An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital where he has sadly died as a result of his injuries.
“His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”
