The Indian batting trio of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have had quite a lot of issues on Australian pitches during the first 3 Tests of the Border-Gavaskar series.
While Jaiswal did play a match-winning knock of 161 in the first Test in Perth, his performances in both the Adelaide and Brisbane Tests were anything but good. On the other hand, Pant has only managed to score 96 runs in the series so far while Gill, who didn’t feature in the first Test due to a thumb injury, hasn’t performed well in both the second and third Tests.
However, India skipper Rohit Sharma isn’t quite worried about the trio and believes that each of them have the capability to come good in the series.
“There’s no pressure on him. He’s been in good form in India, [and] his record in Australia is good,” Rohit said in the context of Pant during the pre-match press conference.
“All these boys, Gill, Jaiswal and Pant are in the same boat. Let’s not complicate their process. They know what expectations are with them. We need to make them aware of the match process and the small things, we don’t need to complicate their plans and thought process. And they themselves, someone like pant, has great expectations from themselves,” Rohit said.
The Men in Blue will definitely be counting on their batting order to fire in the upcoming Melbourne Test as in the past 2 matches, they have underwhelmed big time against the Australian bowlers.
