THE cast of Gavin and Stacey became emotional as they gathered for the last time to mark the series’ conclusion and watch the final episode together.
James Corden and Ruth Jones, creators of Gavin and Stacey, hosted BBC Radio 2’s breakfast show on Monday, where they revealed secrets about the upcoming finale and shared some of their favourite memories from working on the beloved sitcom.

The supposed “last ever” episode of Gavin and Stacey will air as a 90-minute Christmas Day special this year, finally addressing fans’ long-standing pleas to wrap up the iconic story.
They shared a video that captured an emotional moment of the cast swaying side to side, kissing and holding each other as they listened to Run by Stephen Fretwell.
Fans also sobbed as they took to the comment section saying: “Oh! Oh! I am crying. It must feel like going through a break up. Such a lovely cast of people. They should all go out and get hammered, and have a fight down Caroline Street.”
Another added: “Bloody TIDY! Been crying all day & now rewatching for the 100th time all episodes ”
A third penned: “To quote Pam Shipman Christmas special 2008 I’ve gone…I’ve actually gone!”
A fourth wrote: “Crying! Brilliant show, bravo!! Can’t wait to watch the finale on Wednesday.”
Ahead of the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, star Larry Lamb recently said that watching the final episode was “the ultimate emotional rollercoaster.”
“[We’ve] been the same…. poleaxed, completely exhausted [since we watched it],” he told The One Show. “The absolute, ultimate emotional rollercoaster. You’re up, you’re down, you’re on, you’re standing still.”
The star also praised James’ and Ruth’s writing, adding: “It’s quite extraordinary. It’s the most amazing piece of writing. Amazing. So clever.”
Despite promises that the upcoming Gavin and Stacey Christmas special will be the final installment, fan speculation suggests there could be more to come.
But James Corden insists this truly is the end, warning viewers, “It can’t carry on. When you see it, you’ll know.”
However, the creators have announced a surprise project for 2025.

The two stars have now shared that they will be releasing a book dishing on the making of the beloved sitcom.
It will be named When Gavin Met Stacey and Everything in Between: A Story of Love and Friendship and is set to hit bookshelves on October 16 next year,
It will share how the pair turned the show into a cultural phenomenon, including the “rejection, obstacles and challenges” along the way.
“We’re so excited to be sharing the story behind the story of Gavin & Stacey,” James and Ruth said.
“The show has played a huge part in our 25-year friendship and we hope this book will give readers a fresh insight into how it all came about.”
Publisher Transworld’s Bill Scott-Kerr added: “We are so excited to be publishing this joyous book. Seeing the creative chemistry between Ruth and James up close is an inspiration in itself and a real insight into the fission which made Gavin & Stacey the cultural phenomenon that it is.
