NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- Shopping plazas across New Jersey were packed on Monday, with many people doing last-minute shopping.
“I have to buy last minute for my husband,” said Sylvia Case. “I got everybody else but now I’m looking for something for him.”
“I’ve gotta run in and see if I can get a few things for mom very last minute,” said Leanne Ryan, before heading into a TJMaxx store.
Grocery stores were extremely busy, too, as people stocked up on fresh ingredients for holiday meals.
“Some things you want fresh, so you’re gonna have to wait until the last minute,” said Wendy, who braved the ShopRite in Wharton on Monday.
“It’s insane,” said Jennifer Patrick, also shopping at ShopRite. “When I came into the parking lot and I walked into the grocery store, I literally said, I hope everybody packed their patience today because it’s nuts.”
Shoppers not only braved the crowds on Monday, but they also braved the freezing temperatures.
“I was not expecting it to be this cold,” said Cindy Sosa, visiting from North Carolina. “I was expecting cold, but not this cold.”
“Freezing to the point where I had to get myself some gloves,” said Angel Nieves of Ledgewood.
“It’s cold, but it’s okay,” said Case. “It’s exciting. It’s Christmas.”
