OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Oklahoma City Police have identified the victim and suspect in a shooting that happened on Friday, December 20.
According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 6600 block of Bayberry Dr. around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, the suspect, 43-year-old Jerry Yang, began shooting at officers as well as two children inside the home.
Officials say both kids were hit by gunfire, resulting in one being injured and the other, 15-year-old Abel Her, being killed. An officer was also hit and injured.
Both the injured officer and juvenile are expected to recover.
According to OKCPD, Yang then shot himself and died.
Police tell us this started as a domestic dispute. Court documents reveal Yang never should have been at the home.
A protective order was filed against him in Tulsa County in June and he'd been ordered to stay away from his family.
Court records also show in September, Yang pleaded guilty to meth charges in Rogers County.
He faced a three year prison sentence. Instead, he was given DA supervision, community service and ordered to pay fines.
The officers involved have been placed in administrative leave as the investigation continues.
