The Boston Bruins finished their 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals without their leading scorer David Pastrnak on the ice.
Pastrnak left the game at 8:38 of the second period with an upper-body injury after logging 9:00 of ice time across 12 shifts and did not return for the third period.
Interim head coach Joe Sacco could not offer a firm update on the Bruins star when speaking with the media after Boston’s win.
“He left the game with an upper-body injury,” Sacco said. “I’ll get more details on it either later tonight or tomorrow.”
It’s unclear what the Bruins star is dealing with, and the absence could possibly just have been cautionary since the club is off until Friday when they travel to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets in the first game of a home-and-home.
Pastrnak leads the Bruins with 35 points (12 goals and 23 assists) in 35 games this season. He trails only Brad Marchand in goals this season. The Bruins captain has 15 goals for the team lead.
The Bruins have three days off for the holiday break. They travel to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets in the first game of a home-and-home Friday night.
