Nebraska's governor has been hospitalized in an intensive care unit after he was "bucked off" a horse, leaving him with broken vertebrae and ribs and a spleen injury, according to reports.
Gov. Jim Pillen, 68, was horseback riding with members of his family when he was thrown Sunday, NBC News reported. Pillen was rushed to a hospital “out of an abundance of caution” and then taken to a separate hospital.

“The Governor is expected to remain at [University of Nebraska Medical Center] for several days,” the governor's office said in a news release. He is alert and in “continuous touch” with his office.
He was expected to leave ICU on Monday and remain hospitalized for at least one more day, according to the report.
Pillen, who was elected in 2022, previously worked as a veterinarian and owned a livestock operation, according to reports.
