JEREMY Clarkson’s missing glasses from his pub have appeared on eBay after revealing over a hundred were taken in just one day.
The Prime Video star and Sun columnist openly spoke about the pressures of running a pub – and the small profits generated.
Jeremy opened the boozer in August this year to much fanfare[/caption]Jeremy, 64, said since getting the keys to The Farmer’s Dog in Oxfordshire it’s been a “total disaster”.
He explained: “The theft, for example, is extraordinary. People seem to have it in their heads that if they come in for a pint they are entitled to go home with the glass in which it was served.
“Last Sunday 104 went missing. And that cost must be added to the £100 a day we spend on fuel for the generator, the £400 a week it costs to provide warmth on the terrace and the £27,000 a month we must spend on parking and traffic marshals to keep the council off our back.”
Fans can purchase official Hawkstone pint and half pint glasses on Jeremy’s official merchandise website.
But The Sun can reveal a fan who visited the boozer has listed their glass, albeit plastic, for sale on eBay.
The advert states the condition of the pint measure cup as ‘new’ and has started biding at a cool 20 quid plus postage.
The seller might have bought it legitimately but Jeremy sure won’t be pleased to see it being sold for profit – and plastic cups are meant to be returned after use.
Another listing advertises two of his half-pint glasses for £24.60 – which would only cost £14 on his official website.
The Sun has contacted eBay.
Jeremy opened the revamped pub just a few months ago, with fans flocking to pay the watering hole a visit.
He and his partner Lisa have also faced unexpected hurdles in the run up to Christmas, with Lisa’s goose night not going quite to plan, and only managing to sell five turkeys.
Reflecting on his pub venture, Jeremy added in his Times column: “It’s galling to see how much effort is required to make so little money on the farm. It’s worse at the pub.
“The customers are coming. There’s no problem there. But turning their visits into a profit is nigh-on impossible.”
