X CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday moved to blow up a continuing resolution negotiated by Republicans and Democrats in the House of Representatives, which prompted one House Democrat to ask why the South African-born billionaire had any say in budgetary matters.
Writing on Bluesky, Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) hit back on Musk for threatening Republicans who voted in favor of the CR, which was negotiated by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
"An unelected billionaire was crowned co-President by the Republican Party," argued Frost. "They’ve given him the influence to make a damn post that throws a spending bill into limbo cause House Republicans are scared of him. No greater example of oligarchy. Where the ultra-wealthy run the show."
After investing a hefty sum to help Trump get elected president this year, Musk founded the so-called Department of Government Efficiency with the stated goal of slashing $2 trillion from the federal budget.

In reality, however, Musk's agency is nothing more than a glorified recommendation panel that has no legal budgetary authority whatsoever.
Regardless, Musk has been throwing his weight around and making demands of Republicans despite the fact that he was not elected to nor confirmed by the United States Senate to serve in any official government post.
