WE all want to keep that youthful energy, but sometimes, without even realising it, our makeup choices could be working against us.
Whether it’s our habits, lifestyle, or skincare routine, we’re all trying to avoid speeding up the aging process.
Instead, she recommends using a smaller brush to apply the powder on[/caption]Most of us turn to makeup to give us a fresh, youthful glow, but makeup artist Cristina Pignataro says if you’re over 40, there’s a certain technique you might want to skip.
The beauty expert has pointed out that the way we apply powder during our makeup routine might actually be ageing us.
Cristina, who is known as ‘njmakeupartist’ on TikTok, asked her followers if they were still using a powder pad and piling it on underneath their eyes.
Talking about the technique, she said: “This might have worked in our 20s, but now that we’re over 40, we can’t use this much powder.
“It’s just going to make us look cakey and creasy.
“Instead, try using a nice fluffy brush.”
She used a Morphe Makeup make up brush by Ariel in A14, which costs £12 from Look Fantastic.
Cristina continues: “Dip the brush into your powder and just tap off the excess.
“Right after you do your concealer, take that brush and you’re just going to press it lightly under the eye area, taking it all the way up.
“Without re-dipping, just use whatever’s left on that brush.
“Take it down on the side of the nose. Then just take your favourite fluffy powder brush and dust off the excess.
“Now we’re going to dust off this excess.”
She shows the difference between each technique and shows of the side, which she used a makeup pad for, leaves the eye “looking dry and cakey and wrinkly.”
Whilst the other side appeared “smoother, more natural looking and not cakey.”
She then uses her favourite powder brush to dust off the excess[/caption] She shows how the heavily powdered side exposes her fine lines more[/caption] Cristina, who also recommends those 30 and over to join in on the trick, then shows the ‘better’ side[/caption]Many people took to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One asked: “What about us in the 30’s?”
To which Cristina replied: “Yes this is for you too lol.”
A second asked: “Concealer before or after liquid foundation?”
Fabulous' Beauty Editor Tara Ledden has shared the do's and don'ts when it comes to beauty.
“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you’re not getting the basics right, the rest is wasted.
“There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes sabotaging your regime.”
And Cristina commented back: “After.”
Others praised her powder hack, with one writing: “I’m 61, lots of wrinkles, this under-eye tip works.”
