New Delhi: From using a basic besnia pencil to carrying a simple red water bottle to school, many of us have experienced moments of nostalgia. Growing up, we often had just a Rs 1 pouch of shampoo and a single bar of soap that the whole family shared for bath time. These humble memories remind us of simpler times and the value of what we had. Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, a prominent figure in the business world, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express appreciation for an iconic product that we all have used while growing up; well the product is Mysore Sandal Soap.
“Overwhelmed by nostalgia upon seeing this clip. Delighted to see that it survives—and thrives. Going to start buying it again and inhaling the fragrance of tradition! In 2006, former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni endorsed the iconic Mysore Sandal soap.
The globally renowned Mysore Sandal Soap, celebrated for its unique fragrance and distinctive shape, is a product of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL). To meet its growing demand, the company plans to expand by adding approximately 480 new distributors across India in 2025, as reported by The New Indian Express.
The soap is predominantly available in southern states. With this expansion, KSDL aims to extend its reach to regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Gujarat, Punjab, and other states across India, broadening its market presence nationwide.
For over 40 years, the soap has been known for its signature oval shape, red and green packaging, iconic logo, and the tagline, “The only soap with 100% pure sandalwood oil.” However, according to the report, the company now plans to revamp the product with a fresh logo and tagline.
Mysore Sandal Soap is renowned for its unique and captivating fragrance, derived from 100% pure sandalwood oil. This distinct aroma has made it a beloved choice for generations, setting it apart from other soaps on the market.
