Rickey Henderson died on Friday, according to TMZ.
Henderson passed away following a bout with pneumonia, according to the report, having spent the last several days getting treatment at a hospital in Oakland, Calif.
The two-time World Series champion is one of the great players in MLB history, setting records for stolen bases (1,406), runs scored (2,295) and unintentional walks (2,129) while playing for nine teams (Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays) from 1979 to 2003.
The “Man of Steal” racked up 3,055 hits and 297 home runs with a .279 batting average across his time playing and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.
He was 65.
