GAVIN and Stacey fans claim they have a theory which ‘reveals’ the Christmas Day storyline – and also whether Smithy said YES to Nessa.
Comedy legends James Corden and Ruth Jones are bringing back the much-loved sitcom for one last time.

Now, the hit BBC comedy show is making a return for one final episode this Christmas – and fans are in for a treat.
The Christmas Day Gavin and Stacey episode will pick up from the cliffhanger ending of the 2019 special, which saw Nessa down on one knee for Smithy as she asked him to marry her.
Now, fans have been busy discussing how this ending will play out five years on.
Taking to Reddit, one fan came up with a great theory, and got everybody else onboard.
They wrote: “My husband has developed a theory about the plot to the new special.
“Smithy said no to Nessa.
“He and Sonia got married but in the 5 years since we last saw them, have split up and divorced and that’s where we come in…..
“Thoughts? I quite like it as a theory. Means we don’t miss any wedding between Smithy and Nessa.”
Fellow fans immediately jumped on this theory, with one saying: “I always hoped it would be the case he’d say no to Nessa and continue with Sonia.
“I didn’t see his time with her as being finished yet as he still very much worshipped her at that point so I like your husband’s theory as it’s more realistic.”
While another said: “Goodness that’s a good theory on your husband’s part, but I hope Smithy didn’t marry Sonia.”
This one added: “My theory is similar, that he said no to Nessa, only difference is I don’t think he would’ve got as far as marrying Sonya.”
Gavin and Stacey is by far the most-anticipated show this Christmas.
James and Ruth confirmed the news of the new episode in May[/caption] Gavin and Stacey first found fame in the late noughties[/caption]Following the announcement by Ruth and James earlier this year, fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats.
Gavin and Stacey captured hearts across the UK when it first hit screens back in 2007.
The first series kicked off with the main characters, Gavin and Stacey, fallingl in love over the phone, as he’s based in Essex and she’s in Wales.
The show then followed the romance from meeting in person, to getting to know each other’s very different (and hilarious) families.
Gavin and Stacey ran for three series on the BBC – plus a Christmas Special – from 2007 until 2010.
It was then brought back for a festive special in 2019, and now is back one last time.
