Abortion increased 90% in the nation’s abortion capital of New York, one report shows.
Outlawing abortion in pro-life states certainly reduces abortion incidences, but just in those states. Those restrictions do not appear to have the same effect nationwide.

Like squeezing a balloon, abortion regulations push women out of pro-life states like Texas to abortion tourism destinations like New York or to illegally mail order dangerous chemical abortion pills.
Historically, when it comes to abortion policy and trends, as goes New York, so goes the nation.
2023 is the first full year in a post-Roe America. According to a recent article, the Guttmacher Institute claims New York’s 2023 numbers are up 90% over 2022 to a whopping 130,000. That’s the highest number ever recorded for a single year since NY legalized abortion in July of 1970.
And predictably dancing to New York’s turn, nationwide reports show abortion increasing to over a million for the first time in 10 years—a number which likely doesn’t include many chemical abortions sourced internationally or through covert domestic dealers.
Preliminary analysis demonstrates that chemical abortion (listed as “medical” under operative procedures) is up 27% in 2022 over 2021. Chemical abortion continued its upward trend, now representing 46% of all NY abortions, an increase from 41% in 2021.
Most of the overall increase occurred in New York City in the following Counties:
The culprit? Chemical abortion, responsible for 71% of the overall increase in NYC.
Bear in mind this DOES NOT include abortion tourism, abortions provided to out-of-state women who either traveled to NY to get one or who were sent abortion pills from NY (illegally). Oddly, New York State refuses to release that public data.
As early as 2019 in anticipation of the overturn of Roe, the abortion industry aggressively began pivoting away from surgical abortion to chemical abortion to navigate coming state restrictions
While these numbers are tragic, CompassCare anticipated the influx, daring to build infrastructure to compete with the chemical abortion trade. In response, many NY pregnancy centers have come under fire from New York’s pro-abortion Attorney General, Letitia James.
There is no shortage of abortion in New York. Yet, instead of protecting women, abortion hub states like New York attack pro-life medical offices, robbing women of a valuable choice for free medical care and community support.
The abortion battlelines have been redrawn for America’s post-Roe political map. And while state abortion restrictions may not be the ultimate solution to America’s abortion addiction, there are other tools.
The numbers are tragic. But CompassCare anticipated New York’s abortion expansion which is why we began aggressively building life-saving infrastructure in abortion hub cities like Buffalo, Albany, Brooklyn and The Bronx.
And watching the abortion industry quickly pivoting away from surgical abortion to chemical abortion, anticipating massive state restrictions, we built a TeleCare nursing team to reach women online 7-days-a-week, educating her on the dangers of chemical abortion and offering her the opportunity to reverse the effects if she took the first dose. Women need alternatives to abortion now more than ever.
This is why God put CompassCare/EMC Frontline in the heart of America’s abortion capital. God is blessing pro-life Christians with an opportunity to use our faith to cast this mountain of death and injustice called abortion into the sea of oblivion, one woman, one baby at a time (Mk. 11:23). More opportunities to save more lives are coming.
Now is the time to dig deep! You are on the frontlines of the greatest civil rights battle in the history of mankind. Take courage! Remember, we win. The future is pro-life as will be proclaimed with loud voices from heaven, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever” (Rev. 11:15). Imagine what stories of salvation will be told with all the saints in heaven because of your faithfulness to women and their preborn here on earth. It is an honor to serve alongside you. Looking forward to being the busiest pro-life medical network in the U.S., helping twice as many women have their babies in 2025 as we did in 2024!
Serve women. Save babies. Never stop.
