NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A federal judge in Lower Manhattan is hearing arguments for and against congestion pricing.
Opponents are asking for a preliminary injunction. The program is scheduled to begin on Sunday, January 5.
It would charge drivers for travel south of 60th Street in Manhattan.
The latest case says the agency should have done an economic study.
Congestion pricing was passed by the legislature in 2019. It has undergone federal review and environmental study.
It is designed to reduce traffic and create dedicated funding sources for the MTA.
The Judge is not expected to rule today. He previously has dismissed some parts of the law.
A Federal case is also pending in New Jersey.
