After years of waiting, what’s a few more hours? SZA’s SOS deluxe, Lana, is finally here — two years after she first released the original album and 15 hours after it was initially set to drop at midnight ET. SZA began teasing a deluxe of SOS in early 2023 and revealed the new title later that year. But no album news came, even after she released a new single “Saturn” in February. SZA finally put a date to Lana earlier this month, revealing it would be released December 20, along with that bugged-out album cover. But after midnight came and went with only a new “Drive” music video — to the dismay of everyone who’d already sparked their blunts — SZA shared on her Instagram Story that she “just needed a few more hours for new mixes to ingest evenly across all platforms.” Lana would be out “tomorrow AM.” Turns out she meant Pacific Time. Punch, president of her label, Top Dawg Entertainment, confirmed on X the album would be out 12 p.m. PT, adding, “It’s my fault.” We know.
As promised, though, it’s pretty much a whole new album — 15 new songs, including the singles “Saturn” and “Drive.” It also includes previously teased songs like “Diamond Boy (DTM)” and “BMF.” Kendrick Lamar shows up on “30 for 30,” just weeks after SZA guested on two tracks for his album GNX and ahead of their 2025 co-headlining tour. Amazingly, there’s also a song called “Scorsese Baby Daddy.” So stop bugging SZA and start listening.
