Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has revealed that Virat Kohli reached his breaking point when India was touring England in 2018, and had lost the match despite Kohli being the highest scorer. The star Indian batter is currently in Australia for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where he is struggling with his form.
As he revealed one of Kohli’s lowest moments, Dhawan stated how Anushka Sharma once shared an incident with him where star batter was very depressed after India lost to a game during the 2018 tour.
“Virat, I mean, everything he’s been through, the times he’s not been in good form, some insights that Anushka shared with me, about his mindset,” Dhawan said while speaking on The Ranveer Show.
“I think it was a Nottingham Test, where India had lost and she said she didn’t attend that game that day. She came back, she didn’t know where Virat was and she came to the room and saw him lying down, literally crying. He took the whole thing on himself,” he added.
“How he took the whole thing on himself like I failed when he was still the highest scorer that day. He was the captain of the side,” Dhawan further added.
Kohli has been one of the most successful captains for India, as the team having registered their first-ever victory in Test cricket in Australia and England. India have played 68 matches under his captaincy and won 40 of them, which is the most victories by any Indian captain so far.
