One Ligue 1 star who is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar has refused to close the door on a potential exit from his club.
It emerged a few days ago that Tottenham are prioritising bolstering their attack, with Postecoglou said to be keen on signing a wide-man who can operate in either flank.
It was revealed in that report that Lyon’s Rayan Cherki was one of four wide players that Spurs had identified ahead of the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old, who has emerged as one of the most exciting young attackers in Ligue 1, is shining at Groupama Stadium this season, with five goals and seven assists to his name across all competitions so far.
It is not just Tottenham who are fans of Cherki, with the North London club thought to be facing competition from other Premier League sides for the versatile star.
Some sources have revealed that Newcastle and Chelsea have both scouted the winger while Crystal Palace are also big fans of the player.
Amidst the transfer speculation, Cherki was quizzed about his future, and the Lyon man bluntly responded (via Canal Plus): “We’ll see at the end of the season if I’m still here or not.”
Cherki’s comments would pique the interest of Tottenham and other suitors, who might feel that the time is right to make a move for the winger.
According to a recent report in L’Equipe, Lyon are in a deep financial crisis at the moment and could thus consider cashing in on the France Under-21 international if they receive a decent offer.
Meanwhile, it has been reported by The Sun that a bid of £30m would be enough to price Cherki away from the Ligue 1 side.
