The Red Sox added six names to the spring training roster.
Boston announced in a press release that catcher Seby Zavala, infielder/outfielder Nate Eaton and right-handed pitchers Isaiah Campbell, Michael Fulmer, Bryan Mata and Wyatt Mills were added to the 2025 spring training roster as non-roster invitees.
Zavala gives the Red Sox a third catcher for the spring. The 31-year-old appeared in 18 games with the Seattle Mariners and previously played for the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Eaton hit 16 home runs and recorded 60 RBIs and 27 stolen bases with Triple-A Omaha in 2024. He was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 21st round of the 2018 MLB Draft.
The additions of Mata and Campbell confirmed the pitching prospects were re-signed. Mata spent the 2024 season on the injured list and signed with Boston as an international free agent in 2016. Campbell was acquired from the Mariners last year and split time on the major league roster and Triple-A Worcester. The 27-year-old also had small stints on the IL.
Spring training also will allow the Red Sox a closer look at Fulmer and Mills. Fulmer missed the 2024 season recovering from a right elbow UCL revision surgery. And Mills also missed the 2024 season recovering from right elbow UCL reconstruction.
The Red Sox will play their first spring training game Feb. 21.
