What We’re Tracking
A cold and windy night is in store for northeast Kansas as a cold front pushes through the area. Winds will blow from the west to northwest at 15–20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph. Temperatures will drop into the mid-teens, but the strong breeze will bring wind chills down into the single digits.
The cold front that moves through Thursday evening should bring the most noticeable cooling for the week with gusty north breezes and temperatures into the lower 20s by Friday morning. Wind chills will be into the upper 0s and lower 10s for Friday morning and stay rather chilly all day long. Highs struggle back into the lower 30s Friday and near 40° on Saturday.
By Sunday, temperatures will rebound into the low 50s, setting the stage for a warmer trend as we head into Christmas week. A few clouds will build in early in the week, but skies are expected to clear by Christmas Day. Conditions will remain mostly dry, with a slight chance of rain on Tuesday.
