It’s been four days since Golden State’s last game, a 143-133 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. It was a high-scoring affair with both teams lighting it up from beyond the arc, combining for a record-breaking 48 made three-pointers.

Despite the Warriors matching a franchise record with 27 made threes, they couldn’t overcome the Mavericks’ high powered offense. Dallas shot a scorching 60% from the field, led by Luka Doncic, who put on a dominant performance with a 45-point, 13-assist, and 11-rebound triple-double.
Tonight’s matchup marks the Warriors’ debut of newly acquired guard Dennis Schroder. Golden State, in desperate need of an additional ball handler and secondary scoring option, wasted no time trading for the former Brooklyn Nets guard.
Schroder brings a different dynamic to the team, and head coach Steve Kerr plans to use utilize his skills as a pick-and-roll specialist to generate offense during the minutes when Stephen Curry isn’t on the floor. In Brooklyn this season, Schroder averaged 18.4 points on 45.2% shooting and 6.6 assists per game.

"We need to take some of the burden off Steph. He's had to take on, I think an abnormal load this year, of responsibility offensively."

Schroder fits seamlessly into the role vacated by the injured De’Anthony Melton, who was traded to acquire the Nets’ point guard. While it remains to be seen if Schroder will start immediately, expect him to still play a significant role and log plenty of minutes in this one as Kerr begins his integration to the team.
