David Corenswet, the star of producer Ryan Murphy's Hollywood, is set to take to the skies this summer in director James Gunn's new take on the man with the red cape, Superman: Legacy.
On Tuesday, Gunn announced that Corenswet will play Superman opposite Rachel Brosnahan who is set to play Lois Lane. Though Corenswet isn't exactly a household name (at least not yet), he definitely fits the part—some people have even been comparing him to one of Superman's original players, Christopher Reeve, as well as the most recent big-screen Superman, Henry Cavill.
While Corenswet is becoming well-known (and quickly), little is known about his personal life. Below, we spill everything we know about the roles that led him to Superman: Legacy and the minuscule details out there about his love life.

Corenswet was born and raised in Philadelphia, and attended the University of Pennsylvania for one year before moving to New York City to attend Juilliard School. In 2016 he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama and after graduating began guest starring in television series.
His first role post-college was in Rob Reiner's planned television series, The Tap. Originally USA Network ordered the first pilot episode, which was filmed in 2017, but didn't end up picking up the series. The next year he starred as Michael Lawson in Affairs of State before emerging in several more roles, including on Elementary and House of Cards.
It wasn't until 2019, when he landed the role of River Barkley in Netflix's The Politician, that Corenswet really began to make waves in Hollywood.
“My character is not perfect, but he’s sort of like a conscience—a voice of clarity and calm, unlike everyone else,” Corenswet told Vanity Fair at the time. “In the first episode, you find out he is the only one who is really honest about his emotions and shares how he’s feeling. He’s able to do that with Payton. As the show goes on, everybody else struggles and connives, backstabs, and plots against each other... Eventually, you start wondering whether you really know who you are.”
While the show only lasted two seasons, people began to notice the actor and his appearance eventually led to more roles including Hollywood, a limited series about the Los Angeles film business after World War II.

In 2022, he played veteran police investigator David McDougall in We Own This City. That same year he also starred in Look Both Ways, a Netflix romantic comedy, and costarred as the projectionist in Pearl.
The next year, Corenswet took a break from acting to prepare for his new role as Superman.
“I wasn’t 238 [pounds] when we started shooting. I was 238 at my max,” the actor said on episode 27 of the Manly Things (Sort Of) podcast. “I didn’t fit into any of my pants.”
Corenswet, who is 6'4", wasn't exactly used to being that heavy but it was all part of his job as the new Clark Kent.
“That was at the peak of my bulk,” Corenswet said on the podcast. “And then I slowly lost weight before we started shooting. I started shooting at about 228, 230… I know I wanted this to be my excuse to see what it felt like to gain essentially as much weight as I could.”
As far as we're concerned, Corenswet is the real-life Superman, considering we can barely find any information on his love life. Like many up-and-coming Hollywood actors, he chooses to keep his personal life under wraps.
According to some rumors, he married Back for Good actress Julia Best Warner in an interfaith ceremony in New Orleans in March of 2023. Much like Corenswet, Warner is an actor and has been featured in films such as Ratched, Back for Good, and Dot. According to her Instagram, she's also a producer.

While the reports haven't been confirmed by either Corenswet or Warner, he was spotted wearing a wedding ring in an Instagram post from April.
